The company Light Strokes was founded by Richard Greene, the inventor of the OptiPaint™ system. Richard was formerly Director of Engineering at MOTO Development Group, where he consulted on product development for clients including Microsoft, Apple, Sony, and many smaller companies and startups. He has also helped develop software and hardware for companies such as IBM and Bio-Rad. After graduating from MIT, he became an Exhibit Developer at the Exploratorium in San Francisco and also a San Francisco Street Artist, producing limited edition serigraphs. He developed the original Light Strokes as an interactive public exhibit for the Exploratorium when he was an Artist-In-Residence there, and later installed it in several other museums. Now that technology has been embodied in an affordable system for individual artists and graphic designers, the OptiPaint™ system.
